Being responsible and accountable for your actions becomes even more critical in light of the recent announcement that new oil and gas licenses have been offered in the North Sea, and that the ban on gas fracking in the UK has been lifted. These developments are a huge cause for concern in terms on climate change and policies to tackle it.
“The Planet Mark Business Certification is a recognised symbol of sustainability progress. It demonstrates a business’ commitment to measuring and reducing its carbon emissions – ultimately contributing to its environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. For us, the certification means we can report our progress to stakeholders, customers and employees with confidence,” added Ms Thomas.
Planet Mark was set up to make net zero targets simpler for businesses. Its programme helps calculate and reduce all emissions, and set realistic targets. It also provides a costed and robust plan to achieve these targets.
On average, Planet Mark certified businesses make a 24% cut in absolute carbon emissions per year, with 98% of members achieving their targets, thus enabling them to renew their certification year-on-year. Every business that becomes certified through the programme protects an acre of rainforest through Planet Mark’s partnership with Cool Earth.
