Biogas Max
A specialised inoculant for maize and other silage destined for anaerobic digestion (AD). Biogas inoculant is a growing market as AD plant operators become more discerning about the quality and effectiveness of the material supplied for the purpose of energy generation. Using forage which has been treated to maximise levels of acetic acid (the precursor for methane production) during the fermentation process increases the effectiveness and profitability of the enterprise.
Containing P. pentosaceus and the specialist heterofermenters L. buchneri and L. kefiri, use of Biogas Max results in an ideal fermentation profile for subsequent anaerobic digestion. Apart from increasing biogas production, its production of high acetic acid levels provide aerobic stability. Biogas yield increases of 4.3% have been observed, providing a 3x return on the costs of Biogas Max.

It is applied to the forage prior to conservation to increase the levels of acetic acid during fermentation; and is shown to provide a 3x return on investment.
