Operating for the community, by the community since 2012, Malvern Cube (run by the Malvern Youth and Community Trust) has become a thriving, volunteer-led hub at the heart of Worcestershire. Guided by values of inclusion, sustainability, and care, the Cube is more than a building, it’s become a symbol of what’s possible when a community protects what matters most.
When budget cuts threatened to close the site, a grassroots movement stepped in. What followed was a determined campaign to safeguard this vital community space. Since then, the Malvern Cube has evolved into a vibrant venue. Home to a busy café, arts and entertainment events, a youth programme, and over 30 local groups offering activities for all ages.
Values that go beyond the building, Malvern Cube’s mission is to enhance the community experience. That means being affordable, inclusive, and sustainable, whilst always responding to the needs of the local community. These values shape everything they do, from programming to operations.
Their space reflects that care. Maintaining high cleaning standards, without compromising on their values, is intrinsic to achieving this. So, when they looked at improving their cleaning provision, they wanted products that supported those values: safe, ethical, sustainable, yet still capable of getting the job done. That’s where they were introduced to BioHygiene.
BioHygiene is the UK’s leading biotech cleaning brand, combining science-backed performance with plant-based, renewable ingredients. That means:
For Malvern Cube, this meant a smoother, simpler cleaning routine; with better results, and improved protection for the planet and people.
At Malvern Cube, environmental responsibility is embedded into everyday decisions. From local wildflower gardens to ethical procurement, the team is conscious of their impact. BioHygiene supports this mission with sustainable products made from naturally sourced ingredients and renewable biotech. By switching to BioHygiene’s high-performance concentrates and cold-water formulas, Malvern Cube has:
Plastic reduction was another key driver for Malvern Cube. BioHygiene helped tackle this through:
Sustainability doesn’t stop at the door. Malvern Cube’s efforts to protect biodiversity, including their wildflower garden, are now supported by safer cleaning products that won’t contribute to aquatic toxicity that harm local ecosystems.
Because Malvern Cube welcomes people from all walks of life, from toddlers to pensioners, and everyone in between, safety is non-negotiable. Malvern Cube needed products that could clean effectively without exposing staff, volunteers, or visitors to harsh chemicals, and potentially impacting their short- or long-term wellbeing.
By switching to BioHygiene’s biotech products it has helped reduce exposure to irritants and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) commonly found in traditional cleaning agents.
Helping to cut the risk of respiratory issues, skin sensitivity, and allergic reactions from cleaning products. It’s another step in them protecting the local community, with products that clean and safeguard in equal measure.
And that protection includes pets. With a dog-friendly café and garden, Malvern Cube welcomes furry companions too. Sustainable cleaning solutions like Biotech and Ecotech products avoid harsh chemicals, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both human and furry guests.
Inclusive products for an inclusive community Malvern Cube is a space that welcomes everyone, and that means considering diverse needs across faith, ethics, and lifestyles. BioHygiene’s products are certified Halal and approved by Cruelty Free International under the globally recognised Leaping Bunny programme and are vegan. This ensures they align with the values of guests from all backgrounds, so no one has to compromise their beliefs to be part of this community space.
Better cleaning, better experience From day one, the caretaking team at Malvern Cube have been determined to make a difference. Not just in hygiene, but in the overall experience. Creating a welcoming and safe space that community members want to return to means paying attention to the small details and responding to feedback.
Previously, the caretaking team had feedback from visitors about odours in the toilets, which was a concern to all, but switching to BioHygiene has improved the scheduled cleaning and brought standards up and odours down
BioHygiene’s odour-control technology uses three layers of action to tackle smells at the source:
Even on a smaller site like Malvern Cube, the impact has been big. The team have noticed fresher air, cleaner spaces, and a boost in visitor confidence.
And with a busy team, cleaning solutions need to work harder for them. BioHygiene’s products offer residual action, meaning surfaces stay cleaner for longer. All without damaging assets or requiring labour-intensive cleans. Making deep cleaning simple.
“We have been delighted with the support from BioHygiene team and the ease of transition to a new product system. The decrease in cost per clean has been welcomed by the management board, while the resource saving and a content and confident cleaning and caretaking team is a positive result" Anda Phillips, Caretaker, Malvern Cube
