Ammonia build-up can cause significant issues in terms of plant performance and can result in heavy fines if consent levels are not met. Nitrifying bacteria remove ammonia but nitrification is more easily interrupted compared to other biological waste water treatment processes which can lead to plant failure and slow recovery unless product such as BioResolve Nitrifier are used.

How does it work?

The nitrification process takes place in two stages:

  1. The oxidation of ammonia to hydroxylamine then conversion to nitrite by species such as Nitrosomonas
  2. The oxidation of nitrate to nitrate by species such as Nitrobacter

The bacteria are normally added to the nitrifying zone of the WWTP and ammonia and/ or nitrite removal begins immediately. They may be used to establish activity in newly constructed or seasonally operated plants, to reseed a plant after toxic shock or to improve the ability of the existing biomass to meet ammonia consent levels.

Core Benefits:

  • Improved plant efficiency by reducing effluent ammonia by up to 95%
  • The product is the only one of its type grown within the UK using a bespoke in-house fermentation process
  • Each batch is activity-tested before dispatch and the products are shipped in refrigerated containers for immediate use or storage in a fridge where they have a shelf life of up to 6 months
  • Biological Preparations experts can advise you on optimising conditions, provide information about ammonia loading, effluent flow and ensure the plant moves to peak efficiency as quickly as possible.
  • Simplified operations by providing an easy-to-use solution
